Ready, Set, Grow!
No guesses for what this years tagline and focal point of SuiteWorld is. Growth is the buzzword at the event and everything revolves around the word, large posters encouraging us to “Grow Together”, NetSuite is growing into new areas and the event itself seems to have grown from last years.
As usual the opening day is a great day to network with those attending, participate in the #Hackathon4Good and enjoy the partner kick off event.
The 5th annual Hackathon 4 Good, once again running for a total of 12 hours, pits 16 teams made up of customers, employees and developers against each other. The goal is to develop something which meets specific requirements of a non profit, uses NetSuite in an innovative way and could be implemented across any NetSuite system.
This year the 2 non profits involved were Girls Scouts and Abilities Centre both facing 2 very real issues which the 16 teams would aim to resolve. The reason why the opening day for some is a tech and development drive is to give something back to good causes but also NetSuite’s resolve to continue to help non profits. To date NetSuite has helped over 1000+ organisations improve their operations and accelerate their goals. These donations have a rough value of $70+ million with over 14k+ hours dedicated to non profit’s NetSuite has worked with.
After 12 hours developing, prototyping and testing the 16 teams reveal their strategies to the judges. In the end 2 teams are chosen as the winners, one for each non profit.
With the Hackathon going off in another room, the partner kick off takes centre stage with a full house waiting in anticipation. In typical NetSuite style, they kick things off with a bang and 3x Guinness World record holder for throwing playing cards and magician Rick Smith Junior gets proceedings underway. It’s not all card tricks and magic, Senior vice President of Marketing & Strategy Jason Maynard introduces himself to the crowd and goes on to discuss how NetSuite drives expansions faster, helping businesses to grow and scale more rapidly.
Ever present Executive Vice President of Development Evan Goldberg also took to the stage to speak about SuiteCloud development and its framework however refused to mention to many details. With no features revealed the kickoff is more to ease the crowd into what should be a feature packed, exciting couple of days.
After the kickoff customers, partners and all attendants get to network. Plenty of booths were set up including our partners DSI who are exhibiting and if that wasn’t enough, there was the opportunity to meet 2x NBA Champion and MVP American Basketball legend Bill Walton.
Day 2: Ready, Set, Grow.
Day 2 is always a big day for reveals, usually the busiest day for new feature reveals and upgrades to core systems. One of the things we can take away from today is NetSuite’s still growing and setting up new data centres in Chicago, Frankfurt, Australia, Japan and China to accommodate demand and improve their localisation.
